Administrative History | Alford District comprised the parishes of: Alford, Auchendoir, Cabrach, Glenbuchat, Keig, Kildrummy, Leochel-Cushnie, Rhynie, Strathdon, Tough, Towie, and Tullynessle & Forbes.
The first meeting of Alford District Committee of the County Council of Aberdeen was held on 2 June 1890 under the local Government (Scotland) Act, 1889. At this meeting arrangements were made to take over the administration of Roads and Public Health withing the Distruct and a sub committee was set up for this purpose. It was also decided to transfer the Parishes of Kemnay and Monymusk from the Garioch District to the Alford District. The meeting agreed to take over the roads in the parish of Rhynie from the Huntly District and pay them outlays and arrangments were made to hand the roads in Clatt and Kennethmont over to the Garioch District.
Following local government reorganisation in 1929, the first meeting of Alford District Council took place on 14 April 1930. |
