| Description | District 1 (area 16) Public Assistance Officer's copies of the minutes for July 1936 - Oct 1945, and agenda and papers for January 1946 (covering all three districts in the area).
The minutes include a report from each district Public Assistance Officer, with lists of applications and changes in existing cases' circumstances, until April 1940. Thereafter the reports are not included in the minutes unless changes are made by the Committee to the Officer's recommendations. The District 1 Officer's Report is included for April 1940 and July 1944. Separate reports from the Officer's are included from October 1944. Therefore there are unlikely to be entries about individual cases between April 1940 and October 1944.
The minutes also include lists of poor in roll for each district for 15 April and 22 Oct 1945. From 1939 into the war period there are entries in the minutes about evacuees.
The file also contains: minutes of the Council of the County of Aberdeen's Public Assistance Committee, June 1936 - November 1943 (filed chronologically with the other minutes in the bundle); Council of the County of Aberdeen Public Assistance Notice 'Scale of Allowances and Rules as to Clothing for Poor Person's (1935); and list of Public Assistance areas with parishes covered and name of Public Assistance Officer for the area (c. mid 1930s). |
