Administrative History | Mintlaw Special Water Supply District was to be set up in 1896, but an appeal was raised against it by the locals. Aberdeen County Council ruled in favour of establishing a Special District. Waterworks were completed in 1898 at a cost of £1,100.
A Special Lighting District was set up in 1936, and the same year a Special Drainage District was deferred, recommended again later in the year, and formed.
Mintlaw Special Scavenging District, formed in 1934, was extended and adopted into the county in 1949.
The Lighting and Drainage Districts followed in 1968. Around 1967, the Special District Subcommittees of Longside and Mintlaw combined to deal with all four functions in both places. |
