Administrative HistoryThe formation of Crimond Special Water Supply District was proposed in 1938, but as nothing happened it was requisitioned by local ratepayers in 1946.

The County Council's decision was deferred, pending the outcome of debate by the Royal Navy over closing the nearby Royal Naval Air Station at Rattray - the plan was that the new Special Water Supply District would buy Rattray's water supply plant.

In 1946 Special Districts for drainage, lighting and scavenging were also requisitioned, but were also deferred.

The Special Scavenging District in particular was recommended by the Medical Officer of Health for the county in 1947, and was formed and adopted into the county in 1949.

At some stage drainage and lighting districts were also formed, and were both taken over by the County Council in 1968.
