Administrative History | Ellon District comprised the parishes of: Cruden, Ellon, Foveran, Logie-Buchan, Methlick, Slains, Tarves, Udny.
In 1947 Ellon District Council requested Special Scavenging Districts in all the following places: i. Longhaven ii. North Haven iii. Bullers of Buchan iv. Whinnyfold v. Auchmacoy vi. Craighall vii. Tipperty viii. Foveran ix. Cultercullen x. Udny Station xi. Udny Green xii. Craigdam xiii. Barthol Chapel xiv. Methlick
This stimulated Aberdeen County Council into investigating the possibility of a County scheme for scavenging in the landward areas. Deer District Council had centralised theirs, and offered to cleanse Ellon as a contract, but the County Council rejected this. However, they began to look into the idea of centralising the Districts as regards scavenging and began to discuss setting up Ellon and Garioch as centralised districts. This meant that any area wanting to set themselves up as an Special Scavenging District around this time had the decision deferred pending the County Council's discussions. |
