| Administrative History | Torphins Special Water Supply and Drainage District was formed in 1894/5. The District Committee purchased a water and drainage plant from Lt. Col. F.W. Innes of Learney for £500 for the use of the district; it had been in place for the use of the village from 1880, but was in need of expansion.
Torphins Special Lighting and Special Scavenging Districts were set up in 1869, based on the Special Water Supply and Drainage District. All were extended co-terminously in 1897.
The Special Scavenging district was taken over by the county in 1949, and the Special Lighting and Drainage Districts in 1968. |
