Administrative History | Dyce Special Water Supply District was formed in 1891 in connection with negotiations undertaken to set up the neighbouring Waterton water supply. The district appointed an Inspector of Works in 1895 at a salary of £6 p.a. (replacing a previous one), to oversee extension of the waterworks.
Dyce Special Lighting District was formed in 1899 based on the same boundaries as the Special Water Supply District, which now included a Special Drainage District. There were existing oil lamps in Dyce, and the plan was at this point to power new electric ones for both Dyce and Waterton from surplus electricity at Parkhill Pumping Station. However, the agreement fell through, and the oil lamps remained.
Dyce Special Scavenging District was formed in 1926, based on the boundaries of the other districts, and in 1932 Dyce Special Districts combined with Waterton Special Districts. Waterton & Dyce districts were extended in 1938, and the Scavenging District was adopted into the county scheme in 1949. Both the Special Lighting District and the Special Drainage District were adopted into the county systems in 1968. |
