Administrative History | Rhynie Special Water Supply District was formed in 1894, and a water supply works was built. The District borrowed a further £350 from Aberdeen County Council in 1895 to extend it. A Special Drainage District was formed in 1896.
Streets were named and houses numbered in the village in 1922, and fire extinguishing apparatus was purchased in 1923, when the boundaries of both districts were extended. They were extended again in 1930, and a Special Scavenging District was formed based on the new boundaries.
The drainage and water districts were extended again in 1939, but the scavenging district was not extended until 1949, when it was adopted into the county system. Drainage functions, along with existing lighting functions, were taken over by the county council in 1968. |
