Administrative HistoryOld Machar Churchyard surrounds St Machar Cathedral in Old Aberdeen. It was used as the burial ground for the Old Machar Poorhouse, or West Poorhouse as it was also known.

Responsibility for the upkeep of the churchyard was transferred to the Town Council in 1925 under the terms of the Church of Scotland (Property and Endowments) Act, 1925, under the care of the Links and Parks Department.
