The Council appointed Dr Alexander Dauney, advocate in Aberdeen, to be Assessor and Consulter to the magistrates and Council, in place of Mr David Morice, who had resigned the post. The Council granted Dr Dauney the Assessor's usual annual salary of £50. (227r - 227v)

The Council approved the report of the committee appointed to purchase properties in and about Footdee for the improvements to the Harbour, which stated that the committee had agreed to purchase from James Mackie, shipmaster, and Alexander Mackie, merchant, his son, their houses, grounds and property in the village of Footdee for £4,400, payable on 20 June 1813, with interest calculated from 20 June 1806. The Council authorised the Treasurer to execute an assignation in favour of George Silver Esq of Balnagubs, for the lease of part of the Lands and Barony of Muchals, on receipt of Mr Silver's bill for £3,500, in terms of the Act of Council of 2 March 1805. (228r - 228v)

The Council considered the letter from Mr William Kennedy, Agent for the Committee of the Aberdeenshire Canal Company, which enclosed proposals from the Company's sub-committee for raising an additional fund for completing the navigation. The Council agreed to subscribe twenty per cent of the value of the shares belonging to the Town to the fund, to be paid from the Shore Work funds. (228v)
