DescriptionCouncil meeting, 18 June 1806
[Sederunt given]
The Council approved the letter, drawn up by the Provost on behalf of the Council, to congratulate Lord Viscount Melville on his acquittal from charges brought against him before the House of Lords. [Letter engrossed.] (243r - 243v)

The Council made the annual perambulation of the Town's Inner Marches, and made the following resolutions:
First, that Mr Gildawie, mason, should be directed to replace those march stones on the Bowlroad which have been removed or turned over.
Second, that Mr Fletcher should be directed to stake out a line for a temporary stone breakwork or an embankment of feal, starting at Provost Young's factory at Pynernook and continuing southward to the new bridge over the Denburn at the Ice Houses, to prevent the tide from washing away ground near Provost Young's factory.
Third, that the ground at the Sawmill used as wood yards by Peter Patullo, Robert Mathieson, Robert Caie and William Johnston should be converted into a bleach green for the use of the inhabitants, and that any wood piled up beyond the boundary of the wood yards should be removed.
Fourth, that the lowermost basin of the Denburn, immediately above the Bowbridge, should be straightened with the upper part of the Burn.
Fifth, that the ditch at the foot of the planted brae at Denburn should be cleaned out, and the dyke repaired. Also that the wooden paling, put up by Mr Ross, mason, should be removed and placed between the new bridge and the planting, to prevent people from entering the planting.
Sixth, that the ruinous part of the wall between the Craigwell Croft and the Town's Commonty should be repaired, to prevent carts from going onto the Bleach Green.
Seventh, that the door opened in the garden wall belonging to the heirs of James Black should be closed up, and that the embankment opposite should be faced with stone to prevent the rubbish from falling into the Denburn.
Eighth, that Mr Fletcher should be directed to make a plan of the Town's Inner Marches, and of the position of the march stones dividing the Royalty from the Freedom Lands.
(243v - 244r)

The Council visited the Bridge of Dee and the Bridge of Don, and directed David Robertson, Overseer of the Bridge, to make the small repair to the Bridge of Dee. The Council remitted to the Master of Kirk and Bridge Works to have the parapet wall of the Bridge of Don repaired. (244r - 244v)

The Council considered the report by Baillie Shepherd and Mr Copland, Depute Clerk, on quarries opened on the Freedom Lands. The report stated that a quarry had been opened in a field on the Lands of Northfield, belonging to James Forbes Esq of Seaton. The Council remitted to the magistrates to make further enquiries about the quarry. The report also stated that the road between Summerhill and Shetocksley had been opened as a quarry and rendered impassable by William Wedderburn, mason in Aberdeen. The Council recommended to the magistrates to cause the Procurator Fiscal to raise a prosecution against William Wedderburn, for trespass and encroachment. (244v - 245r)

The Council authorised William Johnston, mason, presently in charge of the workmen employed for the harbour operations, to ensure that Mr Bruce, Tacksman of the Shore Dues and the Ballast Lighters, complied with the regulations for the management of the Ballast Lighters. (245r)

The Council authorised the Treasurer to execute a disposition in favour of Andrew Mitchell, and a disposition in favour of Alexander James and William Christie, for their ground on the north side of Frederick Street, purchased at various public roups. (245r)
