The Council resolved to support James Farquhar Esq, the Member of Parliament for the District of Burghs, with their vote at the ensuing general election, and voted him their thanks for his faithful and zealous attention to the interests of Aberdeen. (253v)

The Council approved the report of the committee appointed to visit the Harbour and the Piers, and remitted to the Shoremaster action on the following observations:
First, that the cap stone on the point of the North Pier should be repaired or replaced.
Second, that the rotten pawl at the end of the Pier should be replaced.
Third, that the missing wedges in the shoing of the Pier should be replaced.
Fourth, the committee considered that the house built for the life boat should be enlarged, as requested by the Society of Shipmasters, and had directed Mr Fletcher to make a plan for the enlargement of the house.
The Council remitted to the magistrates the committee's recommendation that a bridge be built across the canal, in the line of the old road leading from the Quay along the north side of the canal basin towards Garvock's Wynd.
The Provost reported that the Navigation Channel between the Old Pier and the New Pier had been considerably deepened since the last inspection.

The Council approved of the sale of the feus of that piece of the Town's Commonty on the north side of the Skene Turnpike Road, opposite the Lands of Whitemyres, Gateside and Kingswells, in the following three lots: the first lot was purchased by Alexander McAllan in Whitemyres at 20 shillings 6 pence per acre; the second lot was purchased by Alexander Gildawie at 7 shillings 6 pence per acre; and the third lot was purchased by George Thom at Huxterstone at 17 shillings 6 pence per acre. The Council approved the sale of the following leases: a thirteen-year lease of the houses and sheds in the Links (at the Block House), originally built by Messrs Francis Leys & Company and purchased from the Company by the Shoremaster, to John Jameson, merchant, on behalf of the Union Whale Fishing Company, for £40; and a thirteen-year lease of that piece of ground, adjacent to the above houses and sheds in the Links built by Messrs Francis Leys & Company, and on which Messrs James Gibbon & Company had erected houses and sheds for their whale fishing business, to Alexander Gibbon junior, for the Aberdeen Whale Fishing Company, for £30 yearly rent. The Council authorised the Provost to subscribe £300 towards the expense of erecting a suite of public rooms, proposed to be built in Aberdeen. (255r)

The Council remitted to a committee of the magistrates, or any three of them, to arrange the disposal of the remainder of the Town's Commonty at the south side of the Skene Turnpike Road, near the Lands of Hazlehead. (255v)

The Council authorised the Treasurer to borrow £300 from the Master of the Trades Hospital in Aberdeen for public purposes, and to grant a bond to him for repayment of the £300 with five per cent interest. (255v)

The Council approved the report of the committee appointed to consider the memoir from Alexander Raitt, eldest son and heir of the deceased William Raitt, merchant. The report recommended that Mr Raitt be allowed to change the terms of landholding from heirs male to heirs whatsoever, on payment of one year's rent; that Mr Raitt's entry composition be reduced by three per cent, as Mr James Ligertwood held the fee of the Lands of Barkmill; and that the strip of ground between the Lands of Barkmill and the road from the Gallowgatehead through Broadford towards the Stocket Head, could be sold. The Council remitted to the magistrates disposal of the above strip of ground adjacent to the Lands of Barkmill. (255v - 256r)
