The Council remitted to a committee of the magistrates, the Dean of Guild and the Treasurer, Provost More, Provost Leys, Mr Alexander Brebner and Deacon Smith, or any five of them, to consider the Provost's proposal that the Council should implement previous Acts to Council to sell the small feu duties, in order to pay off part of the public debt caused by expenditure on the turnpike road between the Bridge of Dee and Stonehaven, and on the formation of the new streets. The Council remitted to the Provost and magistrates, or any one of them, to attend the general meeting of the Aberdeenshire Canal Company on 22 May 1801, intimated in a letter from Sir William Forbes, Chairman of the Company. (41v) |
