The Council remitted to the magistrates, the Dean of Guild and the Treasurer, the Consulter and the Clerks, consideration of the memorial from John Foulerton, late of Gallery, and James Burness, writer in Montrose, his assignee, regarding a discharge of the real warrandice on the Estate of Cowie, granted by Thomas Foulerton of Gallery in security of the teinds of the Lands of Muchals, when the Lands of Muchals were purchased by the Master of Mortifications. The Council admitted the following to bursaries of four years duration at Marischal College. Alexander Allan, son of the deceased Alexander Allan at Brick Kilns; James McKenzie, son of John McKenzie at Denburn; Roger Milne, son of William Milne, shoemaker in Aberdeen; and Peter Leslie, son of William Leslie, druggist in Aberdeen; each awarded one of Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £7. Peter Rae, son of John Rae, merchant at Footdee; and John Gordon, son of Rev Dr George Gordon, one of the ministers of Aberdeen; each awarded one of Katherine Rolland's bursaries of £7. John Smith, son of John Smith, farmer near Fraserburgh awarded Lorimer's bursary of £5. James Shirrefs, son of Alexander Shirrefs, gardener in Aberdeen awarded one of Dr Duncan Liddel's bursaries of £5. (97v - 98r) |
