The Council considered the report of the committee appointed on 5 October 1802 to investigate the quarries and mosses in the Freedom Lands reserved by the Town, which cited the recommendations of Mr Solicitor Blair and Mr John Burnett, advocates, to raise a process of declarator against Mr Skene of Rubislaw. The Council remitted to the magistrates to raise a process of declarator against Mr Skene of Rubislaw, as proprietor of the Lands of Rubislaw, and Alexander Smith, as tenant of the quarries. The Council fixed 8 December 1802 for a meeting to settle the funds for the support of decayed Burgesses, their widows and their families, and for other charitable purposes. (101v)
The Council remitted to a committee of the Provost, Baillies Shepherd and Garden, Mr Mackie, Shoremaster, and Robert Tower, or any three of them, to purchase such houses and grounds adjacent to the harbour, in accordance with the Act of Parliament of 37 GEO. III. (101v) |
