The Council allocated the Poor's Funds for 1803. The following alterations were made to sums granted. Payments to the poor from the Guild Brethren's Hospital charge: James Davidson, lime merchant - £6 John Moir, metster - £6 Barbara Hunter, daughter of Peter Hunter, late baker in Old Aberdeen and a Burgess of Guild - an additional sum of £2 Poor's pensions from the Guild Box: Alexander Henderson, merchant - to be settled on the charge for £8 Margaret Black, Mrs Shinie, daughter of John Black, merchant - to be settled on the charge for £3 Margaret Donald, widow of William Donald, shipmaster - an additional sum of £2 Jean Lindsay, widow of William Cruickshank, merchant - an additional sum of £2 Helen Davidson, widow of Moses Birnie, merchant - to be removed from the mortification of Robert Cruickshank of Banchory and settled on the charge for £6 Poor's pensions from Robert Cruickshank of Banchory's mortification: Christian Craik, widow of John Walker, merchant - to be settled on the mortification for £4 Poor's pensions from Lady Drum's mortification: Agnes Fowler, widow of Alexander Fiddes, merchant - to be settled on the mortification for £6 Jean Ferguson, widow of Alexander Ferguson, writer in Edinburgh - to be settled on the mortification for £6 Mary Christal, recommended by Mrs John Menzies to be a relation of Mrs George and Bell Catanach - to be settled on the mortification for £3 Poor's pensions from Katherine Rolland's mortification: Mary Duncan, widow of James Duguid, hosier - to be settled on the mortification for £6 Helen Martin, widow of James Troup, hosier in Aberdeen - to be settled on the mortification for £4 Children on Dr Guild's mortification: Two children of the deceased Robert Turnbull, shipmaster, and his widow, Helen Hyde - £4 each, until they reached sixteen years of age Two children of the deceased Henry Forsyth, sometime of Hallgreen, and his widow, Mary Garden - £4 each, until they reached 16 years of age Ann Smith, widow of George Moir, merchant, Burgess - £6 by warrant this year for her children Children on Jean Guild's mortification: One child of the deceased Robert Turnbull, shipmaster, and his widow, Helen Hyde (certified to be a relation of Dr Guild and Jean Guild) - £3, until sixteen years of age reached Two children of the deceased Henry Forsyth, sometime of Hallgreen, and his widow, Mary Garden (certified to be a relation of Dr Guild and Jean Guild) - £3 each, until they reached sixteen years of age Alexander Robson, aged seven, and Jean Robson, aged five, children of the deceased James Robson, merchant, and his widow Catharine Smith - £3 each A daughter, aged five, of William Duncan, late Master of the Grammar School, on account of the particular distress and straitened circumstances in which he left his family - £3 Payments to the poor from Lady Fraser of Durris' mortification: Jean Stephen, widow of Peter Dun, vintner at Footdee, and attested to be a relation of Lady Fraser of Durris - to be settled on the mortification for £2 in place of Janet Purse Elizabeth Ross, widow of James Cullen - £3 by warrant this year. The Council granted the application of Mrs Jean Hogg, residenter in Aberdeen and teacher of needle work and English for twenty-five years, for the post of Mistress and Teacher of Needle Work in Aberdeen on Lady Rothiemay's mortification, vacated by the death of Anne Ross. (103r - 103v) |
