The Council presented Alexander Murray, student at Marischal College to one of Mr James Cargil's bursaries for that session only, to replace George Grant, who had left the College. (152r)

The Council agreed to pay £75 out of several mortifications to the Managers of the Poor's Hospital for the year ending Candlemas 1805. The Council elected Directors and Managers of the Poor's Hospital: the Provost, magistrates and other members of the Town Council; Baillies William Ritchie, Andrew Burnett, James Paull, William Littlejohn and Alexander Galen; Right Rev Bishop Skinner, Rev Mr John Bryce, Mr Robert Doig, and Mr James Shand; Sir Alexander Bannerman, Doctors Alexander Robertson, William Livingston, George French, William Robertson, William Dyce, James Moir and Peter Grant, physicians; Mr William Fiddler; Mr Henderson of Caskieben; Mr Niven of Thornton; Mr Martin of Nellfield; Messrs Thomas Bannerman, James Davidson, Robert Lamb and Charles Walker, merchants; Mr Carnegie, Town Clerk; Mr Sheriff Morice; Convener Michie and Convener Leslie. The Council remitted to a committee of the magistrates, the Dean of Guild, the Treasurer and the Shoremaster, or any five of them, the representation from sundry merchants and ship owners stating that the Torrie Pier was ruinous and required repair, and that a crane was necessary to aid the loading and unloading of cargo, particularly for the whale fishing ships, which were being compelled to discharge their cargoes on the south side of the River Dee. The Council considered a representation from the management committee of the Aberdeenshire Canal Company, signed by the chairman, James Hadden, stating that a further sum was required to complete the canal. The Council authorised Provost Leys to subscribe 10 more shares of £100 each to aid the canal's completion. (153r - 153v)

The Council ordained the report of the committee appointed to inspect the gable wall between the houses in the Gallowgate belonging to Alexander Strachan, barber, and William Low, merchant. The committee decided that, in accordance with the Act of Council of May 1764, the gable belonged to Alexander Strachan, but that William Low had a right of taking rest for chimneys. (153v - 154r)
