The Council fixed 12 December 1804 for a meeting to settle the Poor's Funds. (174v)

The Council appointed the Taxers and Stent Masters: Thomas McCombie and George Tower, two of the present Baillies; Gavin Hadden, Dean of Guild, George Thomson, Treasurer, John Young, late Dean of Guild, William Johnston, late Treasurer, Baillie William Shepherd; George Pirie, George Burnett, John Catto, Alexander Duncan junior, Alexander Booth junior, Robert Gibb, Alexander Duthie and John Symon, all merchants in Aberdeen; David Hutcheon and Robert Morice, advocates in Aberdeen; Deacons William Roger, glazier, and William Hendry, weaver, Trades councillors. The Council directed the Taxers and Stent Masters to raise the following sums: £487 6 shillings 4 pence for the King's Subsidy for the year Martinmas 1803 to Martinmas 1804; £140 4 shillings 2 pence 8/12 for the Town's Eque, Missive Dues and expenses incurred by the Commissioners to the Convention of Royal Burghs for the year ending July 1804; plus the £42 3 shillings 8 pence 2/12 overspend by the Treasurer in the previous year. The Council requested Provost Leys to go to Edinburgh to attend the General Meeting [of the Convention of Royal Burghs] on 21 November 1804, and to attempt to reduce the increase in taxation (which would amount to an additional £1,000 annually from Aberdeen), proposed in the new tax roll devised at the Annual Committee of the Convention of Royal Burghs on 26 October 1804.
