DescriptionCouncil meeting, 23 March 1805
[Sederunt given]
The Council granted the application from William Copland, advocate in Aberdeen, to continue in the post of Collector of the Cess and other public taxes, for an allowance of £40 for his trouble, risk and expense, on sureties provided by Messrs George and Alexander More, merchants in Aberdeen. (187r - 187v)

The Council remitted to a committee of the magistrates, the Dean of Guild and the Treasurer, or any three of them, the application from the Police Commissioners requesting determination of the boundary between the Treasurer's ground and the ground under the jurisdiction of the Police Commissioners, in order that a new street could be opened by the Incorporations from Shiprow, through the Trinity Garden, towards Pynernook. (187v)

The Council remitted to a committee of the magistrates, the Dean of Guild and the Treasurer, an application from Harry Leith, builder, for a lease of a vacant piece of ground on the east side of the road along the canal between the lime sheds belonging to Herveys Cuming & Company, and James Moss & Company. (188r)

The Council recommended to Provost Leys to inform Mr Trotter, Postmaster General for Scotland, that the Council supported the plan to extend the Aberdeen to Inverness mail coach via Huntly, rather than by Banff, as the route was twenty miles shorter, thereby saving time for both passengers and for the arrival and dispatch of mail.
