| Description | Council meeting, 20 June 1805 [Sederunt given] The Council accepted the offer from George Thomson, present Treasurer, to take a lease of the College Church for £20 annual rent, and approved his proposed appointment of Mr James Paull, probationer and preacher of the Gospel in Aberdeen, to be Preacher in the College Church. [Details of the Preacher's duties and conditions of the lease are given, including the condition that all collections made during public worship should be paid to the Poor's Hospital.] (197v - 198r)
The Council remitted to the magistrates to raise a prosecution against John Rae, former Tacksman of the Shore Dues and Ballast Lighters, for payment of the deterioration in value of the Ballast Lighters since the start of his lease, as calculated by valuers appointed by the Shoremaster and by Mr Bruce, present Tacksman of the Shore Dues. John Rae had refused to co-operate in, or recognise, the valuation of the Ballast Lighters, and had refused to pay for the depreciation in their value. (198r - 198v) |
