TitleAberdeen Council Register: volume 69 - extract dated 8 August 1812
DescriptionCouncil meeting, 8 August 1812
[Sederunt given]
The Council convened to consider the proposal on the part of George and Alexander More, merchants in Aberdeen, to refer to arbitration the question pending against them before the Court of Session regarding the leases of the Harbour and Weigh House Dues. The Provost reported his inclination to accept this means of resolving the dispute as favourable to continued costly legal action, an opinion supported by the report to Council by Mr Cranstoun, the Town's Agent in this matter. However the question was put to the vote and the Council refused to accede to the request and recommended that Mr Cranstoun be instructed to proceed with the action. (233r - 233v)

The Council approved the sale by public roup of the leases of three dockyards at Footdee, lying on the east side of the Pocra Road, adjacent to the Floodmark, one at present held by Alexander Hall and Company, the other two by William Stephen, shipbuilder. The first was taken by Alexander Hall and Company at 20 guineas and the latter two by the said William Stephen at £20 annual rent, the leases for three years to take effect from Martinmas 1812.
