A letter was laid before Council from Charles Walker, merchant in Aberdeen, intimating his withdrawal as cautioner for Thomas Hutcheon, Gaoler and Keeper of the Tolbooth, on account of his old age and infirmities. Subsequently, the Council relieved Thomas Hutcheon from his duties, appointing Alexander Brown, hosier in Aberdeen, to the position at an annual salary of £40. Standing caution for Alexander Brown were Arthur Farquhar, shoemaker, George Innes, druggist, Robert Spring, baker, Robert Brown, merchant, all in Aberdeen, and James Brown, farmer at Pitmachie in the Parish of Oyne. The Council approved the recommendations of the magistrates that the leases of the Shore and Harbour Dues and the leases of the Ballast Lighters be advertised separately and further that estimates be made for the building of a new ballast lighter. (51v - 52r)

The Council admitted fourteen Burgesses of Guild. (52r)
