Hugh Lumsden Esq of Pitcaple, advocate and Ruling Elder, was elected to represent the City of Aberdeen as its Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh on 19 May 1808. (55r - 56r)

The Council agreed a donation of £70 to the Managers of the Poor's Hospital and elected the following directors for the year ending Candlemas 1809; the Provost, magistrates and other members of the Town Council; Baillie Shepherd and Baillie Garden; Bishop Skinner; the Rev Mr Bryce, the Rev Mr Doig and the Rev Mr Deans; Sir Alexander Bannerman; Dr Robertson, Dr Livingston, Dr French, Dr Dyce, Dr Moir, Dr Skene; Mr William Fiddler, Mr Henderson of Caskieben, Mr Niven of Thornton, Mr Martin of Nellfield; Messrs Thomas Bannerman, James Davidson, Robert Lamb and Charles Walker, merchants; Dr Dauney; Mr Carnegie, Town Clerk; Convener Webster and Convener Leslie; Mr William Smith, late Clerk and Master of the Hospital. The Dean of Guild was empowered to join with William Forbes of Echt and Alexander Brebner of Learnie and grant bonds of annuity to John Dingwall, merchant in Aberdeen, on behalf of Arthur Dingwall, residing at Whitemyres for £120, and to Mr Gordon of Craigmyle, on behalf of Miss Mary Alexander, residing in Aberdeen, for £30, in lieu of £1200 and £300 respectively sunk in their hands, towards the construction of the Echt and Midmar Turnpike Road. The Council approved the sale by public roup of the leases of the Shore and Harbour Dues and Ballast Lighters to Duncan Davidson, advocate in Aberdeen, for a period of one year, commencing 1 June 1808, the former for an annual rent of £2160 with the option of a further two years for the additional sum of £200 per annum, the latter for an annual rent of £201. (57r - 57v)

The Council approved the sale by public roup of the lease for nineteen years of land in the Links to Messrs Robert Gibbon & Sons for their ropeworks, at the yearly rent of £25 for the first seven years and £30 for the remainder of the lease, under the same articles and conditions by which the adjoining ropeworks was let to Messrs George Tower & Company. William Copland, advocate in Aberdeen, was appointed to continue in the office of Collector of Taxation for the City of Aberdeen with an allowance of £40 for his expense and risk of bad debt. Sureties were offered by the Provost and Alexander More, merchant in Aberdeen. (57v - 58r)
