| Description | Council meeting, 22 December 1806 [Sederunt given] The Council agreed to the recommendations of the Provost and magistrates that the Treasury fund an increase in the stipend of the three parochial clergy from £160 to £200 per annum, following a letter from Dr George Gordon, one of the Town's Ministers, applying to the Provost for an augmentation [letter engrossed]. The Council authorised the Treasurer to borrow £1500 from the Managers of the Infirmary, £500 from Miss Anna Brown in Old Aberdeen, and £300 from Catherine Innes residing in Aberdeen, in order to pay the term's interest on the debt from the New Streets. (7r - 7v) |
