| Description | Council meeting, 1 November 1808 [Sederunt given] Following the report of the Examinators of Competitors for Bursaries, the Council admitted the following to bursaries of four years duration at Marischal College; James Arnott, son of Alexander Arnott in Aberdeen, to Mr Charles Gordon's bursary of £100 scots; Robert McCombie, son of Charles McCombie, coal-broker in Aberdeen, and William Kemlo, son of Joseph Kemlo, farmer in the Parish of Garvock, each to one of Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £8; John Anderson, son of Mr Anderson, farmer, to Mr Alexander Cruden's bursary of £5; John Cowie, son of William Cowie, schoolmaster in Aberdeen, and Alexander Machray, son of Alexander Machray, dyer in Gilcomston, each to one of Mr James Cargil's bursaries of £7; George Davidson, son of John Davidson, merchant in Aberdeen, to one of Katharine Rolland's bursaries of £8; James Martin, son of the deceased James Martin, dyer in Aberdeen, to one of Mr James Cargil's bursaries of £7; Robert Innes, son of John Innes Esq, Sheriff Substitute of Kincardineshire, to John Turner's bursary of 100 merks scots, payable by Mr Turner of Turnerhall for the duration of three years in place of Jonathan Henry Christie; Thomas Doig, son of the Rev Mr Robert Doig, minister in Aberdeen, and Patrick Anton, son of James Anton, shoemaker in Aberdeen, each to one of Mr James Cargil's bursaries of £7. The Council authorised the Treasurer to grant a new bill for £2000 with one year's interest from 20 June 1808 to Mr Harry Lumsden, advocate, Mr Lumsden having uplifted £400 in part of the sum of £2400. (81r)
The Council remitted to the magistrates the sale by public roup of the tack on a piece of ground south of the wood yard under tack to Robert Caie, merchant, in Pynernook. (81r)
The magistrates reported to Council on their Visitation of the Harbour and Piers on 23 September 1808. They were found to be in good repair although the road leading to the Pocra Pier and part of the pavement of the Old Quay was in bad repair and was to be attended to before the bad weather set in. The Council approved the application from Messrs William and John Davidson, merchants in Aberdeen, requesting that part of the Town's Links be given off to them for the purpose of straightening the north-east and south-east boundaries of their ground at Footdee [description of ground given] and remitted to the magistrates to settle a price.
