| Description | Council meeting, 8 May 1807 [Sederunt given] The Provost laid before the Council a precept from Alexander Dauney Esq LLD, Sheriff Substitute for the County of Aberdeen, directing it to appoint a delegate to elect a Burgess to serve as Member of Parliament for the District of the Burghs of Aberdeen, Montrose, Brechin, Aberbrotheck and Inverbervie. To which end the Council fixed 26 May 1807 and instructed George Turreff, Town Sergeant, to intimate this to the magistrates and members of Council. (18v - 19v)
The Council fixed 26 May for the annual Perambulation of the Inner Marches and Visitation of the Bridge of Dee and Bridge of Don. (19v)
The Council approved a letter from the Provost to Mr Ewen, acting for the Police Commissioners, rejecting their application for the use of part of the Battery as a gun powder magazine. Instead, following the Provost's consultation with the New Street Trustees, the Council recommended offering ground at the Gallow's Hill for the same purpose. (19v - 20r) |
