| Description | Council meeting, 30 March 1812 [Sederunt given] The Council approved the sale by public roup of the leases for three years, from 1 June 1812, of the following properties belonging to the Dean of Guild and Treasurer; the Ferry Boatman's house and ferry boat at the mouth of the Dee, currently held by William Esson, ferry boatman, was taken by William Stewart, advocate, on behalf of George Cantley, vintner at Footdee, at £50 15 shillings annual rent; the house and garden on the south side of the mouth of the Dee, held by Gregory Cummins, ferry boatman, was taken by the same at the annual rent of £10; the house and garden at Footdee, currently held by John McKenzie, vintner, was taken by George Thomson, merchant, at the annual rent of £70; three lots of ground at Pynernook - the two currently held by Peter Patillo, wood merchant, were taken by the same at £18 annual rent, and the other lot, held by Robert Mathieson, wood merchant, was taken by the same at £10 annual rent. The Council agreed a donation of £75 to the Managers of the Poor's Hospital and elected the following directors for the year ending Candlemas 1813; the Provost, magistrates and other members of the Town Council; Baillies William Shepherd and Thomas McCombie; Sir Alexander Bannerman; Doctors Livingston, Dyce, Moir and Skene; Mr Niven of Thornton, Mr Martin of Nellfield; Messrs Thomas Bannerman, Robert Walker and William Smith, merchants; William Carnegie, Town Clerk; Doctor Dauney; Nathaniel Gillet; Messrs John Ross and John Knott, Teachers of Music and Convener Webster. William Copland, advocate in Aberdeen, was appointed to continue in the office of Collector of Taxation for the City of Aberdeen with an allowance of £40 for the expense of collecting and risk of bad debt. Sureties were offered by Mr George More and Mr Alexander More, merchants in Aberdeen. (223v)
