| Description | Council meeting, 16 April 1821 [Sederunt given] The Council resolved to appoint an assistant and successor to Mr Alexander Nicoll, one of the Ushers of the Grammar School of Aberdeen, as his severe indisposition and precarious state of his health rendered him unable to discharge his duties. The Council agreed to hold a competitive trial of candidates who qualified under the terms of Dr Patrick Dun's deed of mortification, and to advertise the trial in the Aberdeen Journal and in the Edinburgh and Inverness newspapers.
