| Description | Council meeting, 12 February 1814 [Sederunt given] The Council agreed to accept the resignation of Dr James Shirrefs, one of the Ministers of the City, with deep regret that the Public Schools would be deprived of his valuable services. [Letter of resignation engrossed.] The Council also received a letter from the Moderator of the Presbytery declaring the charge on the West Church vacant. The Council voted their sincere thanks to Dr Shirrefs. (18v - 19v)
The Council approved the nomination by the Harbour Committee and Mr Alexander More of Messrs Alexander Brebner and John Dingwall, merchants, as joint arbiters for the submission regarding the compensation payable to Mr Alexander More, late Tacksman of the Shore and Harbour Dues. The submission authorised by Act of Council of 2 September 1813 had not been accepted by Mr James Calder. (19v)
The Council granted the application from Isabella Pyper, widow of the deceased William Pyper, late shipmaster, to be settled on the Poor's Funds for £4 per annum, in place of her son, who had received one of Dr Guild's orphan bursaries of £4, but now was beyond the age prescribed by the mortification.
