Mr John Young qualified as a member of Council by swearing and signing the usual oaths. (23r)

The Council elected Professor George Glennie, Preacher of the Gospel in the College Church, to be one of the Ministers of the City in place of Rev Dr James Shirrefs, being suitably satisfied with his ability, literature, piety, prudence, Christian life and conversation. The Council granted Professor Glennie the yearly stipend of £200, being the usual stipend payable to the Ministers of the City. [Presentation engrossed.] (23r - 24v)

The Council remitted to a committee of the Provost, Baillies Galen and Donald, the Dean of Guild and Mr James Duguid, or any two of them, intimation of their Act of Election to Professor George Glennie and, upon his acceptance, submission of the Presentation to the Presbytery of Aberdeen at their first meeting. (24v)

The Council approved the sale by public roup of a seven-year lease of that field or enclosure called Collison's Croft, situated on the north side of the Bridewell and opposite to Cherryvale, to John Jameson, merchant in Aberdeen, at the yearly rent of £10 10 shillings per acre. The Council reserved the right to construct a road from the Skene Turnpike Road to the back gate of the Bridewell, through the enclosure, and to resume possession of the enclosure at six months' notice.
