Council meeting, 19 December 1826
Provost Brown qualified himself as a member of Council by swearing and signing the usual oaths and also gave his oath de fideli administratione officii as Provost of Aberdeen. (188r)
Mr Hardie, the Chamberlain, stated to the Council that Mr Alexander Stewart, merchant, having lately purchased a property in the Green adjoining the building areas on the south side of Union Street belonging to Rebecca Malcolm, had consented to give off this purchase in favour of the Treasurer at the same purchase price of £400. The Council authorised the Treasurer to purchase the said property to enhance the value of the feus belonging to the Treasurer upon that side of the Street. (188r - 188v)
The Council authorised Robert Catto, the Treasurer, to receive from George Lyall, the Master of Shoreworks, a renewed bill or promissory note for the principal sum due by the Harbour Trustees and to endorse and deposit the same with the cashier of the Aberdeen Banking Company in lieu of the former bill. (188v - 189r)
The Council allocated aid from the Poor's Fund to the following applicants:

Mrs Temple, widow of James Temple - a £3 bursary for one of her children
Mrs Booth, widow of Alexander Booth - £6
Catharine Mearns, daughter of Alexander Mearns, hosier - a £4 bursary for her youngest child, Duncan Robertson, aged four
Margaret Mearns, daughter of Alexander Mearns - £3
Margaret Vass, daughter of James McLean, shipmaster - £3
Ann Brander, daughter of Alexander Brander, merchant - £2
Mrs Cromar, widow of James Cromar, late Rector of the Grammar School of Aberdeen - a £4 bursary for one of her children
Janet Low or Duncan, daughter of George Duncan - £2
