| Description | COUNCIL REGISTER, VOLUME 71, FOLIOS 9v - 10v Council meeting, 12 March 1822 [Sederunt given] The Council resolved to make an application to the Lords of the Treasury recommending Mr James Shearer, currently surveyor in the Edinburgh Post Office, to the post of Secretary to the General Post Office for Scotland, in view of the imminent retiral of William Kerr Esq from that office. (9v - 10r) The Council agreed a donation of [no sum given] to the Managers of the Poor's Hospital and elected the following directors for the year ending Candlemas 1823; the Provost, magistrates and other members of the Town Council; Messrs Charles Walker, Robert Brown, Robert Garden, Alexander Duthie junior, William Johnston, William Davidson, merchants, Mr Stratton, Mr David Chalmers, the Rev Mr Tawse, Mr Carnegie, Town Clerk, Mr Hardie, Town Clerk Depute, Dr Davidson and Mr George Anderson, tailor. (10r) Upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Marischal College dated 13 February 1822 the Council admitted Peter Robertson, student in the semi class to one of Sir Thomas Crombie's £9 bursaries for one year in place of Alexander Donaldson who had left the College.
