Annual election, 26 September 1827
Sederunt: the whole members of Council.
The Council elected the following thirteen Burgesses to be members of the new Council for the year 1827 to 1828: John Young, Alexander Galen, James Hadden junior, William Mackie, Alexander Stewart, William Pirie, James Lamond, Robert Duthie, John Whyte, William Brown, Andrew Duncan, Robert Davidson and David Lyall, all merchants in Aberdeen. The Council elected the following four members of the old Council to serve on the new Council: Provost Alexander Brown, Baillie James Milne, Baillie James Brebner and Gavin Hadden. (219r)
The Council elected Deacon William Coutts, cutler, and Deacon James Cobban, wright, to be Trades councillors. (219r)
The old and new Council, with the Convener and Deacons of Crafts (except James Hadden of the old Council and James Hadden junior and James Lamond of the new Council, in place of whom the Council elected George Henderson, William Selbie and George Aiken, Burgesses of Guild, as assistants), elected the following office bearers for the year 1827 to 1828:
Alexander Brown - Provost
James Milne - Eldest Baillie
John Young - Second Baillie
Alexander Stewart - Third Baillie
James Brebner - Youngest Baillie
Robert Duthie - Dean of Guild
Andrew Duncan - Treasurer
William Mackie - Master of Shoreworks
Robert Davidson - Master of Kirk and Bridge Works
William Pirie - Master of Mortifications
David Lyall - Master of the Guild Brethren's Hospital

The Council elected the said Provost Alexander Brown, Baillies John Young and Alexander Stewart to be Keepers of the Keys of the Town's Charter Chest for the year 1827 to 1828. (220r)
The Council elected for the year 1827 to 1828 the Provost, four Baillies, Dean of Guild, Gavin Hadden, Alexander Galen, John Whyte and William Brown to be Commissioners of Infeftments; and the same gentlemen with the two Trades councillors to be Auditors of the Town's Accounts. (220r)
