The Council, considering that a summons had been lately executed by James Watt, one of the Ushers at the Grammar School, against the Council relative to certain arrears of salary alleged to be due him and others of the Masters since Whitsunday 1817, along with the legal interest of each term's payment, remitted to Baillie Milne, the Treasurer and Mr John Whyte as a Committee, along with Mr Morrice, the Town's Agent, to meet with Mr Watt and any of the others with respect to the claims and to settle with them in such manner as they deem proper. The Council admitted seven Burgesses of Guild and one Craftsman. (248v)
The Council fixed 1 April 1828 to elect a Commissioner to attend the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland on 22 May 1828. (249r)
