| Description | COUNCIL REGISTER, VOLUME 71, FOLIOS 42v - 43v Council meeting, 1 March 1824 [Sederunt given] Mr John Knott, Teacher of Music, presented to the Council his resignation from the office of Precentor of the Psalm in St Nicholas West Church having received an appointment in Edinburgh. The magistrates were charged with the appointment of a suitable replacement and instructed to advertise the vacancy in the Aberdeen Journal and the newspapers of Edinburgh, York and Newcastle. (42v - 43r) The Council heard a memorial from the Convener Court of the Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen requesting an ammendment to the Act of Council of 1801 relating to the registration of apprentices' indentures within twelve months after the date thereof. Instead they suggested that registration could be made at any time during the currency of the apprenticeship of which the Council approved. (43r - 43v) Upon the Faculty's recommendations of 27 February 1824, the Council admitted Robert Moir, student in the semi-class, to Ross's bursary of £6 at Marischal College for two years in place of James Robertson. (43v) The Council fixed 1 April 1824 to elect a Commissioner to attend the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland on 20 May 1824. (43v) |
