The Council granted the petition from James Fowler, son of George Fowler, teacher at Mr Thain's Charity School, great-grandson of the late Provost William Chalmers, to be presented to the benefit of the Divinity bursary mortified by Mr John Johnston and formerly enjoyed by Mr Charles McCombie, student of Divinity, following recommendations from Dr Brown, Principal and Professor of Divinity along with other Professors at Marischal College and the Town's Ministers. He was presented to the bursary for a period of four years with an annual payment of £10. (49r - 49v)
The Council remitted to a Standing Committee the application from James Knowles Esq of Kirkville to purchase the whole of the yearly money feu duties payable to the Dean of Guild out of the Lands of Wester Cairnie and also of the fifth lot of Easter Kirktown or Kirkville in the Parish of Skene belonging to him, at the rate of twenty-five years purchase, and also the victual feu duties at an agreed rate with the Council. The Council remitted to the Standing Committee the plan to divide the Parish of St Nicholas into different districts, each with its own church, as sanctioned by the Act of Council of 3 December 1821 and approved by this Council and the Presbytery of Aberdeen. (50r)
