The Council granted the application from Alexander Dingwall, City Postmaster, to remove the Post Office from its present confined apartment to the Cross which had been lately rebuilt and to convert the interior into a shop to house the Post Office. A lease for the same was approved for the yearly rent of £25. (4v - 5r)
Following the report of the Examinators of Competitors for Bursaries, the Council admitted the following to bursaries of four years duration at Marischal College; John Milne, son of Peter Milne, excise officer in Peterhead, to one of Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £9; Thomas Primrose, son of the Rev William Primrose in Aberdeen, to one of Mr James Cargill's bursaries of £8; John Longmuir, son of John Longmuir, Steward to the Regent Smack of Aberdeen, to Mr John Fraser's bursary of £6; James Cruden, son of the Rev Mr George Cruden, Minister of Logie, to one of Dr Ross's bursaries of £6; Francis Clerihew, son of George Clerihew, builder and Burgess, to one of Catharine Rolland's bursaries of £8; William Smith, son of Alexander Smith, weaver in Gilcomston, to Turnerhall's bursary of £5 11 shillings 1 pence; John Anderson, son of James Anderson junior, merchant in Peterhead, to James Milne's bursary of £5; Alexander Diack, son of Alexander Diack, gardener near Bridge of Dee, to Robert Cumine's bursary of £5; George Morgan, son of James Morgan at Bonnymuir, Burgess, and Alexander Smith, son of Robert Smith of the Customs at Aberdeen, Burgess, each to one of Duncan Liddel's bursaries of £5. The Council appointed the Taxers and Stent Masters for the year Martinmas 1821 to Martinmas 1822: John Young and Alexander Stewart, two of the present Baillies; James Brebner, Dean of Guild; Robert Duthie, Treasurer; Alexander Duthie junior, late Treasurer; William Johnston, James Mowat, John Whyte, Alexander Duncan, James Lamond, Robert Catto, Alexander Galen, John Lumsden, Charles Walker, George Thomson and George Davidson, all merchants; William Stuart and Charles Donaldson, advocates; Deacons John Smith, glazier, and James Robb, wright, the two Trades councillors.
The Council directed the Taxers and Stent Masters to raise the following sums: £526 10 shillings for the King's Subsidy; £148 2 shillings 11 pence and 4/12 for the Missive Dues and expenses incurred by the Commissioners to the Convention of Royal Burghs. (5v - 6v)
