| Description | COUNCIL REGISTER, VOLUME 71, FOLIOS 126v - 129r Council meeting, 16 January 1826 [Sederunt given] The Council resolved to advertise in the Aberdeen Journal and in some of the Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness newspapers the vacant position of Rector of the Grammar School, occasioned by the death of Mr James Cromar, to be filled by comparative trial on 17 April 1826, being the day most convenient for the examiners under Dr Dunn's mortification. (126v - 127r) The Council empowered the Standing Committee to advertise the sale by public roup in way of feu of a piece of ground [measurements given] lying on the south side of Union Street, being the west corner at Dee Street at 7 shillings 6 pence per foot of front of yearly feu duty. (127r) The Provost reported the sale by public roup in way of feu on 31 December 1825 the following lots and building areas along Union Street and King Street belonging to the Treasurer: First, the lot on the south side of Union Street, [measurements given], immediately east of George Lyall's feu, to Simpson Ogilvie, advocate in Aberdeen, on behalf of the Town and County Bank, at 23 shillings 2 pence yearly feu duty. Second, the lot east of lot one, [measurements given], to James Nicol, advocate in Aberdeen, on behalf of the Town and County Bank, at the yearly feu duty of 22 shillings per foot. Third, the lot lying between Mr George Lyall's feu on the south side of Union Street and Correction Wynd, [measurements given], to William Stuart, advocate in Aberdeen, at the yearly feu duty of 10 shillings 6 pence. Fourth, the lot on the south side of Union Street, lying east of Union Bridge, [measurements given], to Simpson Ogilvie, advocate in Aberdeen, at the yearly feu duty of four shillings per foot of front, commencing the first payment at Martinmas 1826. Fifth, the lot on the south side of Union Street, extending from the new street opened by the Incorporation of Hammermen on the east to Dee Street on the west, [measurements given], to John Chalmers, builder, at the yearly feu duty of 7 shillings 6 pence per foot of front. Sixth, the lot along the east side of the Denburn, north of Messrs Gordon and Simpson's feu, [measurements given], to Robert Alcock, advocate in Aberdeen, at the yearly feu duty of 2 shillings per foot of front. Seventh, the lot on the east side of King Street and north of Saint Andrew's Chapel, [measurements given], was taken by David Dunn, merchant, at the yearly feu duty of 10 shillings 6 pence per foot of front.
