DescriptionCOUNCIL REGISTER, VOLUME 71, FOLIOS 160r - 162r
Council meeting, 7 July 1826
[Sederunt given]
The Provost reported on the deliverance of the Presbytery of the Aberdeen on the memorial presented to them by the magistrates and Council with respect to the mode proposed for supplying the vacant charge in the College Church and for procuring a division of the Parish of St Nicholas into five parishes. The extract minute of the Presbytery meeting had been lodged with the Town Clerk and was now laid before the Council [details given of comments and objections]. Dismay was expressed by the Presbytery that no mention was made to the provision of a new church as proposed in 1821 and they urged no further delay in the appointment of a new minister to the College Church. All which being considered the Council resolved to meet on 2 August 1826 to elect a successor to Mr Tawse in the College Church. (160r - 162r)
