TitleAberdeen Town Council Education Committee - Farquharson Kennedy Prize Essays
DescriptionInaugrated in early 1920s, in memorial of Christine Farquharson-Kennedy, a member of the Aberdeen School Board/Education Authority. The fund had initially been raised to erect a granite memorial to Christine in St Peter's Cemetery, and the memorial commitee asked the Education Authority to accept the residue of the fund to provide prizes for essays on Citizenship for children leaving primary schools in Aberdeen. Essays seem to be written by children around 14 years of age. The title of each year's essay is given in the descrption, and some of the essays in the 1940s relate to the children's experiences of the Second World War.
