Alongside regular reports of leases and roups of shore dues, grass and herring net grounds, and tallies of the number of fishermen in Crovie and Gardenstown, the following matters are reported on: 1829: The poor folk are due to indulgent use of ‘ardent spirits’ 1831: repairs to Gardenstown streets; meeting of Crovie fishermen 1832: A desire to harl the outside wall of Gamrie Church; agreement for rent with Crovie fishermen; liquor license holders (listed) 1834: A proposed new Bulwark in Gardenstown at Seatown and arrangements for financing the same; death of tenant of Troup Inn, lease of same. 1835: Coast Guard captain transferring to Pennan Inn; storm destroying bulwark at harbour. 1836: 8 new houses in Crovie. Proposed alterations to Harbour Dues at Gardenstown. 1837: recommended bridge between the 2 sea towns in Crovie. 1838: storm causing damage to houses and bulwarks at Crovie and Gardenstown. 1839. 11 bolls of meal given to kirk session. 1839: required repair to road and bridge to old kirk. 1839: Fishers of Crovie are more respectful and more honest than Gardenstown. For example, the Gardenstown fishermen hid the names of new fishermen, while the Crovie fishermen do not. Because of this, road from Lichnot should be improved, bridge should be build with ½ coming from proprietor, and the boat shore should be widened for the boats. |
