Calderon, Weston Lodge, 16, Grove End Road, North West London, just returned from Kent, thanks for letter, sorry to have missed him, regrets that he will not be able to visit Scotland this year, he must go either to Karlsbad or North Wales in the autumn, he has been at Yewden with his wife, and would otherwise have seen Macdonald at Mr. Young's at Blackheath, workmen now in his studio, is Mrs. Macdonald in Holland?, the Amsterdam exhibition is not worth seeing, nor is the French Salon, and the Fisheries Exhibition in Kensington is better than either, no news, hoping Macdonald will write soon, 27 May 1883
