TitleLetter to Alexander Macdonald of Kepplestone from Hugh Cameron, 5 February 1869
DescriptionLetter to Alexander Macdonald of Kepplestone from Hugh Cameron, 16, Picardy Place, Edinburgh, announcing that he has sent the picture, along with four smaller ones, to the galleries for the exhibition, he was working on it up to the last minute, but he would rather Macdonald had been able to see it first, worried that he is asking Macdonald to buy a pig in a poke, he still has the right to refuse it, it is larger than he had intended (gives measurements), thinks the price of £100 is reasonable, but possibly more than Macdonald cares to pay, if that is the case he will try to paint something else cheaper, he has given it the title 'Responsibility', Reid originally told him to paint something for between £60 and £80, he thinks, but he had to forget that in order not to hamper his painting, he finds he is rarely right in his anticipation of what a painting will cost, but he must reform his ways in this, 5 February 1869
