Description | Letter dated 22 October 1884to Macdonald from J.S. Hodgson, 41 Circus Road, St. John's Wood [London], thanking for haddock, explaining that he was unable to get to Aberdeen but had some free time to garden, suffering from poor finances at present but hopes that things will improve, he has followed Macdonald's suggestion of doing some teaching, last year he did small pictures in the hope that they would pay and they were not successful so this year he is going to be bold, asking Macdonald to visit as he has 'special facilities' to allow him to visit his studio, envious of Millais who has landed a 44lb. fish. |
