DescriptionLetter to Macdonald from Effie Millais, Bowerswell, Perth, thanking him for his note and his wife's, her imminent departure for Birnam, she had seen John off to his school in Slough, Millais is to choose the better of the photographs the Macdonalds have sent, she will send a photograph of herself and one of the McKaes and Sir Henry James, very busy and may forget, she may go south soon to see the new house, present of some mounted granite for their daughter Effie, 'I will see that your wishes are obeyed but she has got some ideas about it herself … her idea is that a biscuit box is something entirely belonging to the married class and as her ideas are not turned in that direction she thinks she could design something simple, elegant and useful and suitable for a young lady's use this at least she said when she examined and admired it', good health of Effie and Millais, and her father's improving health, her mother enthusiastic about Millais' description of Aberdeen, 26 September 1876
