| Administrative History | John Otto Macqueen married Mary Abercromby Haldane, daughter of Robert Haldane of Cloanden, Perthshire, in 1866. They had 10 children: Jane Una (b. 1867), Mary Elizabeth (b. 1868/9), Alice Maud (b. 1870), Jessie Otto (b.1871) John Ellison (1875-1915), Bertha Haldane (1877-1878), Robert Haldane (b.1879), William Pirrie Otto (b. 1881), Ralph Abercromby (b. 1884) and Rhoda (b. 1886). The family house was at Fae-Me-Well, Cothal, near Dyce.
John Ellison Macqueen married Frances Helen Grant in 1909: he was killed in the Battle of Loos in 1915, commanding the 6th Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders. After his death she married his brother William in 1921.
