Administrative HistoryThe estate of south and north Aldie, parish of Cruden, were granted to James Shepherd by the Earl of Erroll in 1826. Hardslacks was acquired in 1831. They were entailed by Shepherd to his son-in-law, the Rev. George Brown in a deed of settlement of 1866. It then appears to have been inherited by his daughers, before being sold in 1953.
