They had three children: the Rev. Willian Connan Smith (1870-1941), David (1872-1889) , and Mary Davidson Smith (1878-1934). The latter established the Mary Davidson Smith Clerical and Educational Trust for Aberdeenshire, which assists the sons and daughters of ministers of the Church of Scotland in training for a career.
