Description | Covering his life from his birth in 1614 to 1661, and his religious experiences.
An edition of the diary was published in 1833 by John Barclay: a digital copy of this is available online on the NLS website https://digital.nls.uk/histories-of-scottish-families/archive/94779219#?c=0&m=0&s=0&cv=6&xywh=-281%2C-708%2C5611%2C5867. In the introduction to his edition Barclay explains how the diary came into his hands in 1827: it was in the possession of his cousin, the Barclays of Ury near Stonehaven. The first portion of the diary was in the study of Ury House, the remaining pages in the loft of a nearby farm house.
Also 19th century storage box for the diary, with Barclay of Ury crest on cover. |
