LONMAY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTE BOOK 1873 - 1887
School Board Meeting 31 July 1876:
"The Board having had circulated among them the applications and certificates of 20 candidates for the office of Teacher of Blackhills School unanimously appointed Mr. William Adie at present at Whitehill School, New Deer, to be teacher of the school during the pleasure of the Board to enter on his duties immediately after the harvest vacation at a salary of £50 per annum and the School fees"

School Board Meeting 11 September 1876:
"The Revd. Mr. Leask reported that he and Mr Willox having ascertained that Mr. Adie's daughter is a pupil-teacher and willing to undertake the Industrial Work at Blackhills School they recommended the Board to give her a trial as a salary of £10 per annum..."

School Board Meeting 5 February 1877:
"The Board...agreed to appoint Miss Maggie Adie as Pupil-teacher at Blackhills School as a salary of £10 for the present year and should she pass the Government examination for the ensuing year to be paid according to the class she passes".

School Board Meeting 9 January 1879:
"Suubmitted letter from Elsie S. Adie, Blackhills dated 27 dec 1871 resiging her appointment as Sewing Mistress in Blackhills P.S. which the Board agreed to accept"

(Miss M.C.Adie left the school late 1879/early 1880)

School Board Meeting 4 january 1884:
"Mrs Adie was appointed Sewing teacher in the Blackhills School at a salary of £10 per annum commencing 1 January 1884".

School Board Meeting 14 November 1884:
"Lizzie Adie, Sewing Teacher, Blackhills.....£5.0.0.

School Board Meeting 3 February 1886:
"Blackhills School: Owing to the serious indisposition of Mr. William Adie, teacher, Blackhills, the Board resolved to find a substitute for him and allow him one month's absence...... The Board regret that circumstanmces have arisen which necesitate Mr. William Adie's resignation as a teacher of Blackhills Public School, and they can only testify to the persoanl worth, great earnestness and zeal of Mr. Adie to the Scotch Education Department as a fitting person to be rewarded with a Pension on account of his long and faithful services..."

School Board Meeting 12 March 1886:
Blackhills Public School: "Resignation of Mr William Adie - Mr Adie's letter of resignation dated 6th March with accompanying medical certificate by Dr Blackhall, were laid before the Board. It was agreed to accept the resignation as from 12 April"

"Appointment of successor: The Board unanimously resolved to appoint Mrs halliday from 12 April as head Teacher of Blackhills School at a yearly salary of £45, with half the government grant and a free house and garden"

School Board Meeting 13 June 1887:
"The Chairman reported that he had received information from the Scotch Education department that my Lords had been pleased to award a pension of £20 per annum to Mr William Adie, late teacher of Blackhills Public School"
